Last Friday it was time, waited impatiently since the event here in Malmö was canceled in March when Covid-19 hit with full force. An appointment was booked with our old Tesla friend Henrik who now works at Porsche, and our expectations were raised throughout last week. Could the Taycan be and feel better than our Teslas?
After a thorough review by Henrik with many comparisons to Tesla, it was time to go for a ride. We of course took the "Porsche Road" between Södra Sallerup and Mölleberga, which is absolutely perfect for the purpose: curvy, hilly and a perfect straight to test the traction.
How did it go then; well, we felt a little crushed when we could quickly conclude that the Taycan doesn't stand a chance against our beloved Teslas. Sure, the added "engine sound" that undeniably gave a Prosche feel, reminded us of the sound effects in Star Wars and it was a bit cool but maybe not that modern (the first Star Wars movie came out around 1980). Stiff, unsightly seats and above all it lacked the "suction" that is so characteristic of Tesla. We didn't borrow the worst model though, maybe it was different in that.
The screens do have touch functions, but the entire instrument panel still felt "old-fashioned".
Sooo, unfortunately Henrik, no deal. We're sticking with our Teslas and if possible feel even happier with them!
